  1. Oct 05,  · I was able to hear Filles De Kilimanjaro on vinyl recently and was immediately, sonically, drawn into it. I did not hesitate to order the cd, the vinyl copy having too much surface noise, to fully appreciate it. I hear Filles, as a bridge to the electric Miles, composition, instrumentation, improvisation, more modern than traditional/5(24).
  2. Since it's billed as "Directions in Music by Miles Davis," it should come as little surprise that Filles de Kilimanjaro is the beginning of a new phase for Miles, the place that he begins to dive headfirst into jazz-rock truthhammerburinnfenriktilar.infoinfo also happens to be the swan song for his second classic quintet, arguably the finest collective of musicians he ever worked with, and what makes this album so 9/

FdK is a great album, a `pre-fusion' masterpiece of improvisation introducing rhythms from rock and soul into the jazz groove and featuring some /5(17).
  5. Oct 27,  · referencing Filles De Kilimanjaro, 2x12", Album, Ltd, Num, RM, , MFSL , As most people already know, this MoFi series of the 2nd Miles quintet albums is amazing. Someone needed to put that in writing/5().
  6. The mysterious 'Filles De Kilimanjaro' is one of the enigmas of the musical life of Miles. It is unique; there is nothing else remotely like it. The musicians had worked together constantly for four years.
  7. Gil Evans, however, had returned to the studio after Miles In The Sky and added some ideas of his own: for example, he signed the reprise of “Petits Machins,” renaming it “Eleven.” The bluesy wildness of this composition contrasts with the reserved pastoral mood of “Tout De Suite” and “Filles De Kilimanjaro.”.
